Penn Township Advocacy
Penn Township, home to Protect PT's Environmental Education Center, is currently engaged in a "comprehensive rezoning" of the entire municipality. This involves changing the map's zoning districts, creating new zones, and adding new defined uses, such as "Truck Stops" and "Solar Farms". One use that has remained absent from the list of defined uses is "Data Centers".

Most people are aware that new data centers are being proposed throughout Western Pennsylvania. Unless a use is defined and regulated within a municipality, a developer could place new development wherever is most convenient. That's why Protect PT is pressuring Penn township to include "Data Centers" in their new ordinance, and to restrict their placement in the township to the "Heavy Industrial" Zone.
