About the Event
Join Sierra Club and partners Protect PT and Earthworks for a well-packed day learning about abandoned wells in Pennsylvania.
We’ll be venturing through some of Pittsburgh’s eastern suburbs - Murrysville and Monroeville - discussing, viewing, and looking for methane leaks using a FLiR camera at abandoned wells located within public parks.
There will be two sessions of the day:
In the morning: an education session at an ADA accessible pavilion with a short walking trail nearby
In the early afternoon: a moderate (non ADA or stroller accessible) hike to an abandoned well site in an Allegheny County park (1.2 mile loop total)
Please note: transportation between parks will not be provided but an address for site location will be provided.
