Proposed Upper Burrell Data Center
A data center has been proposed in Upper Burrell, PA, at the site of the old Alcoa research facility. According to TECfusions, the developer, this data center could eventually consume up to 3 GW of electricity—more electricity than produced by solar in the entire state of Pennsylvania. 280 MW will be pulled from West Penn Power, and additional power may come from 6 gas wells located on the property. The municipality has passed a resolution for curative amendment, which institutes a 180 day moratorium on data center applications while the municipality writes a data center ordinance.​​​
We're Taking Legal Action.
On August 25th, on behalf of Upper Burrell residents, Protect PT filed a legal appeal against Upper Burrell Township and the Upper Burrell Board of Supervisors. Our contention is simple: How could TECfusions be grandfathered in under the former Arconic location's permiting the site was never permitted for use as a hyperscale data center?

Upper Burrell residents: We urge you to attend the monthly supervisor meetings to give a comment about your concerns regarding the proposed data center! The supervisor meetings are held at 3735 7th Street Rd, New Kensington, PA 15068 from 7:00PM to 8:00PM on the first Wednesday of each month.​​
