About the Event

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will hold a public hearing regarding an issued draft permit to Penneco Environmental Solutions, LLC to authorize the conversion and operation of a commercial disposal injection well in Plum, Pennsylvania. The hearing is to take place on Tuesday, August 30 from 6pm to 8pm at Plum Community Center.

An injection well is used to inject fracking waste into rock formations nearly a mile below ground. This method allows for multiple opportunities for this hazardous waste to enter the freshwater sources of Allegheny County. This contamination can occur through pathways such as drinking water wells, abandoned oil and gas wells, abandoned mine chambers, rock formations, and cracks in the casings used to contain the injected fluids. We must Tell EPA to DENY THIS PERMIT and keep fracking waste from oil and gas operations out of our community.
