Meet our Interns/Volunteers

Amanda Myers is our new social media intern. She is a recent graduate of Point Park University with a degree in journalism. Alongside working on posts and content for us this summer, she'll also serve as a marketing intern for Animal Friends while continuing to write for her own entertainment blog.

Bibek Gupta: I am currently a Senior in Computer Science and Mathematics at University of Central Oklahoma. I have been selected to the Vice President’s List over the past four semesters, and am also a member of the Sigma Alpha Lamda Scholars. My coursework has given me a rich mixture of both the theoretical and practical sides of my field. My academic experiences have greatly contributed to the development of my critical thinking, problem-solving, and time-management skills. I excel at communicating both clearly and professionally with co-workers, management, and customers.

Caden Austin is one of our computer science interns this summer. He is a freshman computer science major focusing on cyber security, minoring in math and German.

My name is Giulia Schaub and I am a legal intern at Protect PT. I will be starting my third and final year at Duquesne University School of Law this fall and I plan to work in public interest after I graduate.

Jon Rokicki: I am an Environmental Science and Research Intern with Protect PT. I am currently studying Energy and Earth Resources at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, and I hope to continue my education in Environmental Science. As someone who enjoys the outdoors, I plan on focusing my career on solving the environmental problems our society faces.

Peter Nelson works as an Environmental Science and Research intern for ProtectPT. Peter is from Denver and has his Bachelor’s in Meteorology and is studying for his Master’s degree in Environmental Science at Duquesne University.

Ryan Murphy (1).jpg

My name is Ryan Murphy, and I am a rising senior chemical engineering student at Penn State. Throughout my time as an undergraduate, I have taken strong interest and passion in research. The projects I have worked on have spanned from polymer science to biochemistry. On the topic of polymer science, I conducted research on the chemical composition of popular polymers, and overall analyzed the environmental impacts of our increased use of polymers. It was through this project I realized that something needed to be done for our environment if we plan to stay on this planet for an extended period of time. That is why I am extremely excited to work on the water quality analysis project this summer with Protect PT! Through this project, we hope to shed light on the true risks associated with toxic fracking waste getting into our water ways, and if it is affecting the water we drink and the health of our community.
